Drug overdose suspected behind teenage girl’s death

JAMMU: A young girl died late last night after she was shifted in serious condition to the Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, for treatment by her family members. According to reports, the young girl, identified as Divya Manhas daughter of Krishan Lal, resident of 382, Marble Market, returned home late last night after attending a party.
Police said, her condition suddenly got deteriorated around 2:00 AM and her family members shifted her to the GMC for treatment, where, she failed to respond to the treatment and breathed her last.
On Saturday, a board of four doctors has been constituted who have videographed and pictured the deceased for investigations. FIR has been registered and proceedings under section 174 of CrPC have been initiated.
Police further informed that the doctors attending the girl found some injection marks on her arms which suggest that she might have taken drugs and an overdose can be a reason for her death. The matter was immediately informed to the police which rushed to the spot and took the body into its custody. The body after autopsy was handed over to the family members for last rites. Police has rounded up some of her friends to ascertain the facts.
