Driver jailed for killing pedestrian

RAMNAGAR : Judicial Magistrate Ist Class, (JMIC) Ramnagar, Renu Dogra imposed a punishment of simple imprisonment for one year and a fine of Rs 3,000 to a bus driver who killed a pedestrian on 18th December, 2013 in village Gundia, Ramnagar due to his negligent driving.
According to the case, the driver namely Vijay Kumar, son of Hem Raj, resident of Nimbla Kirmoo, Tehsil Ramnagar while driving bus No JK02G-4055 on his way from Basant Garh to Ramnagar in a very rash, negligent and careless manner hit a pedestrian who died on the spot on 18th December, 2013.
The case was registered in Police Station Ramnagar under FIR 154/13 under sections 279 and 304-A RPC and after investigation the Challan was submitted in the court of JMIC Ramnagar.
After hearing the prosecution and the Defence counsels, the JMIC said that the prosecution has succeeded in proving the commission of offence under section 279 and 304-A RPC against the accused. Accordingly the JMIC Renu Dogra sentenced the accused to undergo simple imprisonment for one year and fine of Rs 2,000 for commission of offence under section 304-A RPC and two months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 for commission of offence under section 270 RPC.
