Dr Sushil exhorts upon healthy lifestyle

JAMMU: Cardiovascular Diseases Management Camp was organised here at Patoli Brahamna on Sunday.
More than 300 patients took the benefit out of this camp. The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr. Sushil K. Sharma Head department of Cardiology Government Medical College Jammu along with a team of doctors comprising Dr. Nasir Choudhary, Dr Salma Koser, Dr. Mohi Kalsotra and paramedics including Kashmiri Lal besides volunteers Gourav Sharma, Lokesh, Ravi, Ajit Verma and Girdhari Lal Sharma.
Dr Sharma elaborated the need for early diagnosis and management of cardiac ailments particularly coronary artery disease which has become the largest killer and if treated in time can prevent mortality and morbidity. For preventing or slowing the progression of coronary artery disease, people should adopt a healthy lifestyle by avoiding smoking and eating fat free food. Obesity is another factor for which people should be aware because it is a precursor for large number of diseases.
A large number of people availed the benefits of this camp where in risk factors like smoking, excessive alcohol intake, hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, obesity and stressful situations were emphasised. Further in this camp, the patients were given benefit of diagnostic tests like ECG, biochemistry besides free medicines were also distributed
The natives of the area including Subash Sharma (Sarpanch), Gopal Choudhary (Panch), Puran Chand Sharma (Naib Sarpanch), Sardari Lal (Panch), Dheeraj Sharma, Tara Chand Choudhary and Rattan Chand thanked Dr. Sushil Sharma and his team for organising this camp.
