DPAP leader accuses PCC President Vikar Rasool of frustration, opportunism
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: General Secretary of Jammu Province and DPAP Spokesperson Vishal Chopra leveling accusations against State PCC President Vikar Rasool. Chopra countered Vikar Rasool’s recent statements by highlighting the latter’s history within the party.
Chopra stated that Vikar Rasool’s current position in the party owes much to the support and mentorship of senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad. He reminded that Azad played a significant role in Rasool’s political career, emphasizing that Rasool’s current status in Congress could be attributed to Azad.
Chopra went on to assert that Vikar Rasool has displayed a lack of stability as a leader, often expressing frustration and uncertainty about his future within the Congress Party. He also mentioned that Rasool had once advocated for the formation of a separate political party in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, when Azad parted ways with Congress and established his own party, the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), Rasool chose to align with the opportunist path and secure the position of PCC President in Jammu and Kashmir. Chopra further accused Vikar Rasool of attempting to safeguard his own popularity by making baseless allegations against Ghulam Nabi Azad, insinuating an association with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He urged Rasool to remember that Azad is widely regarded as one of the most secular leaders in India, recognized with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award for his exceptional service and selfless dedication to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chopra concluded by advising Vikar Rasool to introspect before targeting Azad, acknowledging Azad’s significant contributions to the region and his status as one of the country’s distinguished leaders.
