DoP to hold Int’l letter writing competition

JAMMU: Department of Posts (DoP) is going to organise ‘2017 International Letter Writing Competition for young people’ on 8th January 2017 at Jammu, Srinagar, Baramulla, Udhampur and Rajouri.
The competition hosted by Postal Administration is open for children up to 15 years of age as on 31st March 2017. The duration of the competition is one hour from 10:00 to 11:00 AM and the subject matter of the competition is ‘Imagine you are an Advisor to the new UN Secretary General which world issue would you help him to tackle first and how would you advise him to solve it’. The composition must be presented in the form of letter no exceeding 1000 words on the given subject.
The applications should be submitted as per format in duplicate with three photographs duly attested by Principal/Head of the institution and the applications should be got counter signed by the head of the educational institution. The first prize will be Rs 5,000, second prize Rs 3,000, third prize Rs 2,000 and consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 shall be awarded to the winners.
The last date of submission of application forms, duly complete in all respects is 21st December 2016 and may be addressed to Assistant Postmaster General (Wlf/Sports), O/o Chief Post Master General, J&K Circle, Srinagar-190001.

Vaid takes up assault of Kashmiri students with Uttarakhand DGP

SRINAGAR: Special DGP Coordination, Law and order, Dr. S.P Vaid on Thursday took up the matter of assault on Kashmir students at a Dehradun college with the Director General of Police, Uttrakhand, M.A Ganap-athy and sought immediate action in this incident. Vaid also talked to SSP City Dehradun, Sweety Agarwal. Both the officers have assured appropriate action regarding this matter.
