Dogri version of Satish Verma’s book ‘Pakistan Ki Haqeeqat’ gets Sahitya Akademi Award

JAMMU: Jammu’s well-known writer Dr Nirmal Sareen conferred with the Sahitya Akademi Award 2021. She got the honour for translating journalist Satish Verma’s book ‘Pakistan Ki Haqeeqat’ in Dogri language.
The book with its title as ‘Pakistan Ki Haqeeqat’ was written by Senior Journalist Satish Verma after visiting twice Pakistan and the Northern areas of Jammu and Kashmir like Gilgit, Baltistan and Skardu, occupied by it.
The book was published by Dr Nirmal Kumar Verma of the famous ‘Diamond Books’ in 2011 and then released by famous journalist Ram Bahadur Rai in Pragati Maidan, Delhi. The book was widely appreciated by the readers in whole of the country.
Its Dogri translation was done by Dr Nirmal Sareen with its title as ‘Pakistan Di Haqeeqat Kane Ru Bru’ was published and released in 2016 by the then Dy Chief Minister of J&K, Dr Nirmal Singh in a function at KL Sehgal Hall, Jammu.
In this book the writer Satish Verma after physically visiting Pakistan first time in 1999 during Nawaz Sharief Regime and second time in 2005 during Gen Parvez Musharraf regime and has described the condition of Kashmiri Refugees who crossed over to Pakistan, spoke to the people who were demanding freedom, and also discussed some issues.
Speaking on the occasion, journalist Satish Verma said “Today, I am very happy when my book translated into Dogri was honoured by the Sahitya Akademi. I would also like to thank Dr. Neelam Sareen from the bottom of my heart.”
