JAMMU: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (AG) led by its President, Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally against the shortage of electricity.
The Dogra Front activists assembled at Rani Park area and raised slogans against the government and Power Development Department.
Gupta said that every year the people of Jammu are made to suffer during summers on account of power cuts and non-supply of drinking water. In these days, when the temperature is 44 to 45 degrees, only electricity and drinking water can provide some relief from scorching heat but unfortunately both these commodities have gone out of the reach of a common citizen, he said adding that it is the duty of elected government to ensure that people are not made to suffer but in J and K the government has least concern for the people and its ministers are enjoying their summers in Kashmir and do not have any feeling for the helpless people of Jammu. He expressed anguish over shortage of water and electricity in various places across the district and urged the administration to constitute a team to review the situation and suggest corrective measures so that people get some respite.
Those who joined the protest include Kimti, Prem, Bantu, Ram Paul, Surinder, Sukhdev, Abhishek and Narayan.
