JAMMU: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (AG) under the leadership of Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally in Jammu city against the shortage of electricity and water by burning a cooler.
Scores of party activists led by Ashok Gupta assembled near Rani Park and raised slogans aginst PDD minister amidst burning of cooler.
The Party President said that every year the people of Jammu are made to suffer during summers on account of power cuts and non-supply of drinking water.
In these days, he said, when the temperature is 44 to 45 degrees, only electricity and drinking water can provide some relief from scorching heat but unfortunately both these commodities have gone out of the reach of a common citizen.
It is the duty of elected government to ensure that people are not made to suffer but in Jammu and Kashmir, Gupta said, the government has least concern for the people and its ministers are enjoying their summers in Kashmir and do not have any feeling for the helpless people of Jammu.
Gupta further stated that it is the same Coalition Government which had given a categorical assurance that the areas which get electronic meters installed will not have to suffer any power cut.
The government has failed to keep its promise and the situation has gone from bad to worse, he alleged.
On one hand, the government does not ensure regular supply and electricity and drinking water, on the other it acts like dictator and immediately disconnects the connections if any consumer deposits tariff little late, he said.
He added that long curtailment of power has made the life of people miserable adding that the students are the worst sufferers.
He said that the students cannot concentrate on their studies due to curtailments in the late evening hours.
Holding the Deputy Chief Minister responsible for power crisis in Jammu region, he said as Power Minister Dr Nirma Singh has failed to initiate action to improve the power supply in the State.
He further stated that the power supply to Jammu region has been further curtailed due to highly prejudicial and callous approach of helmsmen.
Both the departments are with the BJP and the people of Jammu voted for the 25 members for their representation in the Assembly.
Gupta stated that the next three months are going to be very hot and full of scorching heat, so an immediate resolve of the problem should be taken out.
The party activists present were Bantu, Ashish, Shastri, Ustad, Nikku, Ram Paul and Abhishek.
