Doctors, paramedics suspend strike; resume duties

BHADARWAH: After intervention by Sub Divisional Megistrate(SDM) Bhadarwah, doctors who were on an indefinite strike from yesterday over the alleged manhandling of their colleague by a police Sub Inspector, suspended their stir on Tuesday afternoon.
Doctors and paramedical staff at SDH Bhadarwah suspended their work yesterday after a Medical Officer, Mudassir Iqbal was allegedly manhandled by Sub Inspector Zaheer Iqbal, who was on Yatra duty near Chandi Mata Temple on Bhadarwah-Basohli Road.
In the scuffle Sub Inspector also received minor injuries and was admitted at SDH Bhadarwah, however his right arm of the doctor was fractured as he was allegedly cane charged by the police officer.
According to reports, both the parties lodged complaints against each other at Police Station Bhadarwah, but the striking doctors alleged that police lodged an FIR against the injured doctor only however they refused to entertain their complaint against the erring police officer which prompted the doctors and paramedical staff to continue their protest today.
The situation started worsening at SDH Bhadarwah because doctors refused to resume their duties demanding registration of case against the police officer. Due to the strike dozens of patients were seen at OPD, emergency and other sections, waiting eagerly for the doctors.
Later, SDM Bhadarwah Mohd Anwar Banday met the injured doctor and protesting staff at SDH Bhadarwah and assured them of strict action against the police officer. He also requested the doctors to resume their duties. Thereafter doctors and paramedics suspended their agitation.
