DNOs review workshop on ‘Mainstreaming of Out of School Children’ held

JAMMU: Directorate of Samagra Shiksha Department of School Education J&K, in collaboration with the National Development Foundation with support from Unicef, organized a workshop at Tawi Conference Hall Udheywala Jammu to review the progress on enrollment and mainstreaming of Out of School Children in Jammu & Kashmir.
Around 30 participants from all ten districts of the Jammu division comprising of DNOs and Education Officers who are Nodal Points in their respective districts on enrollment and mainstreaming of Out of School Children participated.
Vikas Khajuria, Assistant programmer, Dr Jagdish Raj Panotra, and Dr Pourash Sharma Nodal officers from the Directorate of school education Jammu also participated and interacted with the DNOs.
Ajeet Sharma, the coordinator of Quality Samagra Shiksha, advised DNOs to enrol children on Portal and not to see progress through the portal.
Syed Fayaz, the Assistant Coordinator of Quality Samagra Shiksha, discussed procedures to be adopted with regard to the age-appropriate admission process as per RTE Act 2009.
He informed that special training centres would be established on a need basis.
A group exercise was also organized in which participants deliberated on the challenges faced on the ground and the way forward.
Samagra Shiksha also facilitated the DNOs by awarding them Certificates of Appreciation for their role in conducting the web-based Talaash Survey.
A special certificate of appreciation was also awarded to National Development Foundation for their outstanding work and support during the Talaash Survey. Bilal Mir Dy Director Planning Samagra Shiksha J&K distributed the certificates.
Rajiv Khajuria, President/CEO National Development Foundation, in his address, lauded the role of the Education Department in conducting the Talaash Survey in a time-bound manner.
He appreciated the directorate of Samagra Shiksha for making the Talaash Survey web-based which will remain on record and is easy to track. He also thanked UNICEF for their support.
He extended full assistance and coordination of the National Development Foundation and Civil Society sector in Community Mobilization and mainstreaming of Out of School Children.
Bilal Mir Dy. Director Planning Samagra Shiksha, in his address, informed that the top priority of the J&K Government at this moment is to enroll and mainstream Out of School Children in Jammu & Kashmir.
This also remained a principal focus in the back-to-village programme.
He sought the support of PRIs, Civil Society and all field functionaries of the Education Department to facilitate enrollment and mainstreaming of Out of School Children at ground level.
