RAMBAN: District Magistrate Mohammad Aijaz on Tuesday imposed section 144 Cr. PC on National Highway in the district. A formal order has also been issued by him today. The move came in the wake of unusual protests and slogans by some people on the highway thereby leading to blockade of vehicular movement and creating hardships for public in general and students in particular.
Since, NH 44 is the only road connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar for transportation of essential commodities and patients owing to closure of Mughal Road, therefore any unusual activity on the said highway is likely to hamper the plying of vehicles, the order reads.
The order puts restrictions on assembly of four or more persons on Highway who intend to hold protests and raising slogans. The Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban has to execute the order which shall remain in force till 15th of February 2017.
