DLSA Jammu observe World Day Against Child Labour

JAMMU: World Day against Child Labour was observed by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jammu under the guidance of Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge) Jammu Sanjay Parihar and the supervision of Secretary DLSA Jammu Smriti Sharma at Lower Muthi slum area of Jammu on Monday.
Resource persons for the programme were DLSA Jammu Panel Lawyer Advocate Ausaf Aslam and Advocate Deepali Kapoor along with PLVs Rakesh Kumar and Joginder Pal. Resource persons along with PLVs held door to door campaign at slum area of lower Muthi to spread awareness against child labour.
The theme for World Day Against Child Labour 2023 is “Social Justice for All. End Child Labour!” This theme highlights the connection between social justice and the issue of child labour.
The resource person discussed the Child Labour (Prohibition Amendment Act, 2016 prohibiting the employment of children below 14 yrs. in all employment and also prohibits employment of adolescents (14-18 years) in hazardous occupations and processes.
Various schemes like Grant in Aid on Child Labour, application Form Fund, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna etc were also discussed by Resource persons to aware parents and children against Child Labour.
Resource persons also distributed light refreshment to the children of slum area.
TLSC Bishnah, Akhnoor and RS Pura also observed World Day against Child Labour in their respective Tehsils.
