Divisional Commissioner Kashmir reviews post-flood rehabilitation steps

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal on Wednesday reviewed post-flood relief and rehabilitation measures with all Deputy Commissioners of Valley through video conferencing. He also took stock of supply of essential commodities being dumped in border, hilly areas of Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region.
Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir, Director CAPD Kashmir and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar were present on the occasion.
The Div Com was informed that land has been identified for construction of residential units for flood affected families in Srinagar, Kulgam, Anantnag, Baramulla and other districts of Valley.
The Div Com directed all deputy commissioners to ensure re-verification of the affected houses. It was also informed in the video conference that ex-gratia relief has been disbursed among affected families.
The Div Com also directed Deputy Commissioners to ensure quick submission of losses with regard to crops, live stocks and orchards.
The Div Com reviewed stock and supply position of food grains and other essentials commodities with Deputy Commissioners of Valley and Ladakh region.
The Deputy Commissioners expressed satisfaction over the supply position of essential commodities.
During the meeting, Director CAPD, Kashmir informed that 4,61,840 quintals of rice, 1,59,300 quintals of wheat, 3,000 quintals of sugar are available in the godowns of Valley besides 1,55,000 quintals of rice, 10,000 quintals of sugar have been dispatched to different locations of far flung areas like Karnah, Keran, Gurez, Machil, Jumgund etc.
The Div Com was informed that sufficient stocks of essential commodities have been dumped in Leh and Kargil Districts which will cater to the needs of region upto May next year.
