KATHUA: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu visited District Election Cell Kathua and inspected various sections. He also interacted with officers and held a review meeting regarding election preparedness.
Additional Deputy Commissioner G Prasanna Ramaswamy, SSP Kathua Pawan Parihar, Addl DDC N S Bali, and other senior officers accompanied the Divisional Commissioner and briefed about election preparedness. Issues related to air sorties for 24 polling stations in Bani, EVM Management, security, polling personnel, basic minimum facilities, communication and transport plan were discussed in the meeting.
A detailed resume of electoral awareness campaign “Matdaan Mahotsav” was also given during the meeting. Special campaigns for various areas and sections of voters were reviewed by the Divisional Commissioner who appreciated the extraordinary work being done for enrolment, electoral awareness and participation and voter participation.
Later, he inspected District Election Cell, Media Cell, Media Certification and Monitoring Committee, Expenditure Monitoring Cell, Model Code of Conduct Monitoring Cell, District SVEEP Cell, Computer Centre and District Complaint Cell which have been established as part of Model Election Cell for Assembly Elections. He lauded the role played by District Election Officer Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal and team of district administration for establishing such an innovative election cell and a novel SVEEP campaign under title ‘Matdaan Mahotsav’.
Earlier Shantmanu inspected the assets of Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority.
He inspected the newly constructed way side amenity constructed by Lakahnpaur Sathal Development Authority at Kharote Morh Kathua. CEO LSDA apprised the Divisional Commissioner that the building has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 143 lakh and has been outsourced to private party after observing all the codal formalities. He told Divisional Commissioner that by outsourcing the authority has earned revenue of Rs 24.75 lakh over a period of three years.
