Chatha-Sunjwan land scam
JAMMU: Acting on the directions of the J&K High Court, the State Government on Monday appointed Shantmanu, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu as the Inquiry Officer to conduct the enquiry into the encroachment of government land at Chatha- Sunjwan area in Jammu. He has been asked to submit his report within one month.
Earlier, Sudhanshu Pandey, the then Divisional Commissioner, Jammu had been appointed as the Inquiry Officer to enquire into the matter but he could not complete the enquiry within the stipulated time.
The issue of the encroachment of land at Chatta-Sunjwan is under consideration of the High Court in the PIL No. 2212014, CMA No. 16912014 titled S.K. Bhalla V/s State of J&K & others.
The terms of reference of the enquiry to be conducted by Divisional Commissioner Jammu are: Whether the land has been transferred in accordance with rules and regulation and with the approval of the competent authority; to identify the officials responsible for transfer of any land in favour of SRK Associates in contravention of rules and procedures in vogue or without the approval of the competent authority; to identify the officials responsible for non- consolidation of three patches of land measuring 40 Kanals falling under Khasra Nos. 1452,1445 and 1447 of village Chatha, Sunjwan, Jammu; to identify the officials responsible for mutation of 20 Kanals and 12 marala of State Land under Khasra No. 1442 of village Chatha, Sunjwan Jammu in favour of Ram Kumar, one of the partners of SRK   Associates in contravention of rules and to identify the officials responsible for– including State Land under the layout plan of residential colony of SRK Associates in contravention of rules and any other matter related to the issue.
