SRINAGAR: Two-day District Baramulla Winter Sports Championship in different events and various age groups concluded with the holding of prize distribution function at Gulmarg, here. The events decided on Monday included Alpine ski, Snowboarding and race in Nordic Ski.
The prizes were given away by Principal IIS and M, Col. Dhillon, who was Chief Guest. Also present were Assistant Director Youth Services and Sports, Shabir Wani and former Ski Coach of the State Sports Council, A.R Tantray as also General Secretary of Winter Games Association of J and K (WGAJK), Muhammad Yusuf.
Meanwhile, the WGAJK disclosed that the association would hold open selection trials to select the State contingent for forthcoming National Ski and Snowboarding Championships. The first three position winners of recently held district championships would have direct entry for the final selection trials while for fresher there will be another selection race.
Prior to the nationals, the association shall hold State Winter Games next month. Earlier, the competition was declared open by General Manager of State Cable Car Corporation, Reyaz Malik and Assistant Director, Dr. Alyas Nasir.

Senior Men: Alpine Ski Bilal: Ahmad Reshi, Ist; Mudasir Ahmad, 2nd and Javed Ahmad Lone, 3rd. Junior II Alpine Ski Girls: Sabiya Nabi, Ist; Shabista Shabir, 2nd and Zainab Rashid, 3rd. Junior II Alpine Ski Boys: Jehangir Ganai, Ist; Waseem Ahmad Bhat, 2nd and Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat, 3rd. Junior I Alpine Ski Boys: Amir Bin Rahim, Ist; Irfan Ahmad Sheikh, 2nd and Mudasir Ahmad War, 3rd. Consolation Prizes: Ayan Ahmad Zargar, Zamin Rashid and Shoaib Malik.
Snowboarding Senior Men: Mudasir Ahmad, Ist; Firdous Ahmad Sheikh, 2nd and Zahoor Ahmad, 3rd. Junior category budding Snowboarder: Mehraj Ud Din Khan, Ist, Zubair Ahmad Lone, 2nd and Arif Majid Lone, 3rd. Nordic Skiing: Abid Bhat, Ist; Nisar Bhat, 2nd and Tahir Lone, 3rd.
