District Pulwama Volleyball Championship concludes

PULWAMA: The District Pulwama Volleyball Championship concluded on Sunday at Noor Pora, Awantipora, with thrilling matches in various categories.
The tournament, organized by the District Pulwama Volleyball Association under the banner of the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir and sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, saw the participation of 22 teams from across the district.

In the much-anticipated men’s final, Star Volleyball Club triumphed over Imo Volleyball Club in a thrilling 5-set match. The final score was 3-2, with set scores of 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-10. It was a closely contested match, with both teams putting up an impressive performance, but Star Volleyball Club held their nerve in the final set to emerge victorious.
In the junior category, Puchal Hunters defeated Barsoo Volleyball Club with a 3-1 victory, clinching the championship with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 25-22. Puchal Hunters displayed strong teamwork and resilience, especially after losing the third set, to win the final two sets and secure the title.
The sub-junior category final saw Marvel Volleyball Club overpowering Tral Volleyball Club in straight sets, winning 3-0 with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-22. Marvel Volleyball Club’s dominance was evident as they maintained control throughout the match and sealed a comprehensive victory.
In the girls’ final, Spiker Stars defeated Smashed Volleyball Club with a 3-1 scoreline. The sets were closely contested 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20. Spiker Stars demonstrated excellent attacking and defensive skills to secure the title after a hard-fought match.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Imo Volleyball Club defeated Western Volleyball Club by 3-1, with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20. In the second semi-final, Star Volleyball Club defeated Alstar Volleyball Club by 3-0 with scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-23.
The closing ceremony and award presentation took place in Noor Pora, Awantipora, where the Commandant Officer of CRPF 130 Battalion, Rajiv Kumar Yadav, was the chief guest. In his address, the chief guest congratulated the District Pulwama Volleyball Association for organizing the championship successfully and for providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills.
The event was graced by several prominent figures, including Haroon Rashid, a national volleyball player, and Javeed Ahmad Dar, an executive member of the Volleyball Association Pulwama. Members from the Gindun Foundation were also present to support the event.
