District-level TT Tournament begins

UDHAMPUR: The four-day long District Level Table Tennis Tournament was declared open by DIG Udhampur-Reasi range Surinder Gupta (IGP) here on Saturday.
The tournament being organized under the Civic Action Programme by the District Police in collaboration with District administration, Sports Council, UTTA saw participation of about 300 players.
Surinder Gupta said that such events provide an apt platform to the budding players to hone their talent. While exhorting upon the youth to channelize their energy in positive direction, Gupta said that youth should stay away from the menace of drugs. He reiterated that police is taking stringent measures to curb the menace of drugs in the society.
DDC Udhampur Niraj Kumar said that the tournament has been organized to encourage and motivate youth to show their sports skills and instill confidence in them. He further said that district administration in collaboration with other departments shall organize more sports events such as Udhampur Olympics and Udhampur Premium League in the district for promoting the spirit of sportsmanship among the youth.
Among others, SSP Shailendra Kumar Mishra, ADC Angrez Singh Rana, CPO Rakesh Jamwal, ACR Subhash Chander Dogra, CMO Chander Prakash, CEO Bishan Singh, DFO Territorial Jugal Kishore, DFO SF Rajan Singh besides other district officers were present on the occasion.
