District Doda Volleyball tourney begins

DODA: Two-day District Volleyball Championship of Doda being organized by Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK) commenced at Halipad Ground, Gundoh here on Wednesday.
A total of nine teams are taking part in this knockout event which was declared open by SDPO Gundoh, Shazaada Kabir Mattu.
He appreciated the VAJK for introducing competitive volleyball in the district by holding the district championship.
Sponsored by the J&K Sports Council (JKSC) under My Youth My Pride programme in the Union Territory (UT), the opening function was also joined by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the VAJK, Kuldeep Magotra and Joint Secretary of the Association, Mohd Tariq.
On the basis of their performance, Sinoo Club and Tribal Youth Club qualified for the final which is scheduled for tomorrow at the same venue.
“It was our endeavour to take the game of Volleyball to every district of the UT. And Balisa Gundoa event was part of our resolve to introduce competitive volleyball at every nook and corner of J&K,” said Kuldeep Magotra, CEO, VAJK.

The Results: Sinoo Club beat Chanyas Club 2-0; Lion Club beat Inharra Club 2-0; Lion Cub beat Wani Club 2-0; Sahara Club beat Broken Heroes 2-1, Friends Club beat Chanti Club 2-0; Tribal Youth Club beat Sahara Club 2-0 sets; Tribal Youth Club beat Friends Club 2-0.
Today’s matches were officiated by Zahoor Elahi, Ishtaik Ahmed, Zai ul Haq and Gulam Rasool.
