LEH: The District Developm-ent Coordination and Monitoring Committee ‘DISHA’ of Leh District convened its maiden meeting immediately after the constitution of the same comprising of 18 members headed by its chairman Thupstan Chhewang, Member Parliament Ladakh at Council Secretariat yesterday evening.
Chairing the meeting, Chhewang said that District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) under the directions of Ministry of Rural Development Department, GOI is being formed nationwide in every district with a view to fulfil the objective of ensuring a better coordination among all the elected representatives in Parliament, State Legislatures and local governments to monitor the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes/programmes in accordance with prescribed procedures and guidelines and promote synergy and convergence for greater impact. For successful implementation of all the schemes as per the potential and geographical need of the regions of Leh District, Chhewang and MLA Leh Rigzin Jora directed Deputy Commissioner, Leh to constitute a four different committees of imaginative officers for different regions of the district including Central Leh, Nubra, Changthang and Shaam to explore every possible potential of the regions so that suitable schemes could be focused as per the need of the regions. The meeting took a detailed assessment and information about the guidelines of centrally sponsored schemes from concerned HoDs focusing every scheme as per the suitability and potential of different regions of the district with constructive suggestions, ideas and queries coming from committee members and officers. Talking about the incomplete projects in Leh, MLA Leh, Rigzin Jora suggested to project remaining incomplete projects of 13th Finance Commission and Task Force in Prime Ministers Development Package (PMDP) and stressed for strong follow-up for earliest completion of the same under other sanctioned schemes and projects. DC, Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy G assured early constitution of committees of officers for successful implementation of ‘DISHA’. The Members of the Committee who attended the meeting were Nawang Rigzin Jora, MLA, Leh, DC/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy G, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal Councillor Matho (Representative of ST), Rinchen Tondup, Sarpanch Saboo, Tashi Gyalson President PDP, (Leh), G.M Sheikh, social worker and Fida Hussian Retired YSS Officer (representative of minority).
