BANIHAL: Rashtriya Rifles stationed at Banihal in close coordination with civil administration organised a two days disaster management exercise Hiffazat-e-Awam at Banihal.
The exercise was planned in consultation with the civil administration agencies to coordinate and carry out mock drills to function under challenges posed by weather conditions or natural calamities in Jawahar Tunnel , Banihal and Ramban sector.
A joint control cell was established at SDM office which acted as a situation room. It painted various disaster situations and also coordinated the reactions of various agencies of Banihal region.
Different situations were painted over the period of two days which saw timely and well coordinated response from civil administration, JKP, fire brigade persons and disaster reaction teams of army.
An interaction and debriefing of the exercise was conducted at joint control cell on 23rd Jan 2017 in which all stakeholders of Banihal were present. The interaction was well attended by SDM, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, BMO, Station Fire Officer, representatives of Navyuga and IRCON, JKP and army.
The civil administration appreciated the efforts put in by the army and communicated that such exercises have raised the confidence of locals and also assured all cooperation in the future.
