Director Rajya Sainik Board meets Army Commander

UDHAMPUR: Brig (Retd) Harcharan Singh, Director Rajya Sainik Board on Tuesday met Vice President of the Rajya Sainik Board, Lt Gen D.S Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command. Brig Harcharan Singh briefed the Army Commander on various activities of the Rajya Sainik Board. The director has already carried out visits to various districts of the State and has held meetings with various functionaries of State Government and senior army officials. The director also met the Defence Pension Dispersing Officers (DPDO) and discussed issues related to pension of the veterans and war widows/widows. Director informed the Army Commander that a ‘One Window’ clearance has been established by DGP (J&K) to address the grievances of ESM and the same is functioning to the utmost satisfaction of all. He thanked the Army Commander for the assistance rendered by various army units/formations to support Zila Sainik Welfare Officers in smooth functioning, application of ‘Suvigya’ package and help for Jeevan Praman. The Army Commander appreciated the close liaison and jointmanship of all agencies while working for welfare of Ex-servicemen (ESM) and their wards and widows. He informed that on priority a software is being developed to help computerise the data bank of ex-servicemen. Army Commander assured assistance from the army for reaching out to the ESM in remote areas for speedy executions of the computerise process of data bank of the veterans and war widows. He also briefed on priority of work on checking of correctness of pension being drawn by the veterans. Ex-servicemen (ESM) Cell website of Army HQ will also be made use of to contact and progress cases ‘Online’ with PCDA, Record Offices etc. Army Commander expressed satisfaction on the positive approach and prioritisation of the work to ensure that ex-servicemen and their families get their dues in an earlier time frame.
