Diploma engineers slam Govt for apathy, discrimination

JAMMU: Diploma engineers on Wednesday slammed State Government for showing indifference in mitigating their problems. The issue was raised in the general body meeting of All J&K Diploma Engineers Association, Jammu which was held here at Institute of Engineers Gandhi Nagar, in which a large number of diploma engineers belonging to various engineering wings participated.
While addressing the meeting Er. Upinder Singh President of the association condemned the callous attitude of the administration towards Diploma Engineers. He told though the association has represented the present establishment a number of times for consideration of its long pending demands yet no heed is being paid. He said the continue apathy of the administration towards Diploma Engineers has generated a great deal of resentment among the cadre. He warned the administration that the sulking cadre will resort to agitation if that continue to ignore the cadre.
Er. Ami Gupta Chairman of the Association demanded implementation of Punjab pattern to avoid growing unrest among the cadre. Er. J.S Rathore said that hurdles are being created by some vested interest persons in realisation of the long pending demands and demanded immediate restoration of 65 left over posts of Assistant Engineers in favour of Diploma Engineers. Others who spoke on the occasion include Er. Rajesh Sharma, Er. K.C Raina, Er. K.K Sharma, Er. Ram Lal, Er. Arshad, Er. Tanveer, Er. Vinay, Er. Irshad and Er. Jaipal Sharma.
Meanwhile, a faction of diploma engineers held a meeting here at Press Club of Jammu to highlight the deplorable condition of their cadre particularly stagnation at Junior Engineer level.
Decrying the style of functioning of the incumbent association of diploma engineers, which according to them has not achieved a single goal mentioned in their manifesto during election about three years back, the meeting urged its members to call general house meeting and come out with detailed progress report. The meeting also resolved and expressed its readiness to start the process of election of All J&K Diploma Engineers Association as the tenure of present association will be over after September, 2016.
On the occasion, diploma engineers also framed a Council of Engineers to promulgate their issues which remained there as a cause of worry for the cadre during the last three years.
Er Sunil Sharma was nominated as Chairman of the council and Er Kuldeep Singh Katoch as its Vice Chairman. The members include Engineers V.K Trikha, Ramakant Khajuria, Kulbir Singh, Sunil Abrol, Randeep Singh, Romesh Sharma, S.L Raina, Deepak Sharma, Ganesh Singh Balloria, S.A Naik, Sukhdev Singh and Anil Bakhri.
