JAMMU: The first batch of Tawi Trekkers J and K for Silver Jubilee Himalayan Trekking Programme, Dharamsala shall leave Jammu on 29th May. The group include 47 students and two teachers of Oriental Academy Higher Secondary School, here.

It shall be followed by another group of the same school and then groups from Shangrilla Public School, St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Barnai and National Academy High School Udhampur, Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School and some other schools.

During the four-day trek, the trekkers would walk through McLeodganj, the seat of Dalai Lama, Dal Lake, Tapovan, Bhagsunag, Dharamkot and finally trek to Galu Temple which offers a panoramic view of Dharamsala  and Kangra valley, a handout issued here today informed.

The participation fee which includes transportation, boarding, lodging, supervision and all such other expenses for the four days trek is Rs 2,450.

The other Himalayan Trekking Programme being organised at Moungri, in district Udhampur, shall start from June three. During the three days programme training in Rock Climbing, Rapelling, Jumaring and artificial river crossing is imparted to the participants besides trekking in the nearby hills.

The programme being organised in the sylvan surroundings of Moungri promises an experience of a lifetime to the participants. The participation fee of this programme is Rs 1,250.

It may be mentioned here that since it is a silver jubilee year of Himalayan Trekking Programme in which over 12000 students have already participated, the club shall be organising 25 adventure activities to commemorate the year.
