DGP sounds alert ahead of Republic Day

JAMMU: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Jammu and Kashmir Director General Police K Rajendra Kumar on Monday asked the security agencies in the State to maintain alertness along the State borders.
“The DGP stressed on maintaining alertness on the borders of twin cities and on the national highway for which he advised placement of check posts to check the movement of anti-social elements. He also advised for sharing intelligence inputs in this regard and start joint patrolling of all the security formations,” an official spokesman said.
The DGP issued the directions after reviewing the law and order situation and security arrangements ahead of Republic Day (RD) celebrations, being held in the State Besides senior police officers was attended by officers the meeting of the intelligence and central para-military forces.
Kumar sought reports from the participants about the law and order situation, security arrangements and deployment plan, put in place for smooth and peaceful conduct of Republic Day celebrations in twin capital cities and all districts headquarters across the State.
Stressing upon better coordination among all sister agencies and the civil administration, the DGP said that to foil any attempt by the troublemakers to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere, close liaison should be maintained at every level and the officers supervising different components should be briefed accordingly.
A comprehensive security grid and deployment mechanism for conduct of peaceful celebrations needs to be formulated, he said.
He asked to keep an eye on the activities of anti-national elements and mount pressure on their nefarious designs.
