JAMMU: BJP Senior leader and Member Legislative Council (MLC) Advocate Ramesh Arora discussed the matter of NIT with Director General of Police (DGP) and expressed his concern over the unfortunate incident of NIT, where students were thrashed and abused for no fault and demanded action against delinquent police persons involved in Lathicharge.
Arora said, “we don’t want to demoralise local police but at the same time, we cannot allow anybody from our force to spoil the peaceful atmosphere and give a bad name to the State.”
“The incident of NIT is not only condemnable but is a move to create wedge between local and non-local, which is not in the interest of the State,” he said adding that the students from this region are studying in different parts of the country and we cannot afford misunderstanding between local and non-local.
Arora said it appears that few persons wanted to play politics and recent episode of JNU have boosted their nefarious designs.
This fact is also required to be investigated, weather it is an act of irresponsible cop or political motivated game, he said.
“We smell that certain parties which are out of power wanted to demolish peace and fabric of brotherhood prevailing in the State through their yes man or persons present in forces. This will be dealt seriously because no one is above law and cannot exploit his position and power,” he mentioned.
Arora appealed to all sections of students to continue their studies without fear and should have the confidence that such acts of irresponsible mindset will not be allowed to be repeated in Kashmir or in any other part of the State.
“It is duty of the State under the Constitution to protect life and liberty and we cannot allow protector to cause damage to this commitment,” he said.
Arora asked DGP that
he should not wait for
his retirement and he should prove himself a
man of action which is his duty also.
