DFCO initiates action against meat seller

JAMMU: Continuing with its drive to ensure availability of wholesome food especially mutton and poultry products to the consumer at large, Drugs and Food Control Organisation (DFCO) on Friday inspected various mutton selling outlets and directed to secure compliance with sanitary and hygienic conditions of their premises as per mandate of the FSS (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations 2011 in letter and spirit.
On the instructions of Assistant Controller Food, MLJ (Municipal Limits Jammu), DFCO, Sanjeev Kumar, a team of the Food Safety Officers namely Manooz Ahmad, Zulfkar Ali, Daleep Singh and Ajay Khajuria carried out inspections of various mutton sellers in the areas of CPO Chowk, Kacchi Chawni and Sarwal areas.
The FBOs were advised to sell meat of such animals which have been duly certified by the qualified veterinary staff empowered for such purpose. Besides, the vendors were instructed to provide proper storage arrangement for preserving unsale meat products.
A Challan against Abdul Hamid, meat Seller at CPO Chowk for unhygienic and insanitary condition shall be filed before the competent Authority in due course of time.
