DFCO destroys flood-hit essential commodities
SRINAGAR: Acting upon specific inputs that flood hit Food Commodities are being offered for sale to gullible consumers, the sleuths of Drug and Food Control Organisation, under the instructions of Commissioner Food Safety, carried out raids in various areas in district Anantnag, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Baramulla, Budgam and Shopian.
During the drive the regulatory staff destroyed / confiscated huge quantities of fruits beverage, coconut Vanspati edible oil, confectionery, mustered oil, Gharam Masala, honey and Suji, salt worth over Rs. 8,38,880.
The commodities were confiscated from KC Traders, Baitingoo Anantnag, Kashmir Valley Dub Ganderbal and GM Traders Pattan.
The Commissioner of Food Safety has made an appeal to general public to observe packaging conditions at the time of food article purchase and ensure that the impressions of flood are not borne by such articles of food.
