Development pushed to back-burner: Bhalla
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Slamming BJP of surrendering Jammu’s interest for power, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla on Thursday, appealed Jammuites to oppose and expose the nefarious designs.
He regretted that BJP leaders were still describing the Agenda of Alliance as sacred and visionary despite it showing total disregard for the concerns of Jammu region and pushing the development to back-burner.
Bhalla making a mention of the tall announcements made by the BJP during elections regarding Empowerment of Jammu, Delimitation of Assembly constituencies, end of discrimination against Jammu region and ensuring it equitable treatment, issuance of Dogra Certificate to Jammu youth, grant of State Subject rights to West Pak Refuges, abolition of Custodian Department and conferment of ownership rights to its occupants, right to vote in Assembly Elections and local bodies to WPRs, reservation of 5 seats for PoJK migrants and 3 seats for Kashmir migrants, 33 per cent reservation for women in Assembly, State subject and property rights to children of daughters of J&K married outside with non state subjects, provision of 6 per cent vertical reservation to ex-serviceman and martyr’s families along with slogan of ‘Ek Nishan, Ek Vidhan’, he regretted that all the said slogans fell flat with hardly any initiative taken by BJP to ensure their incorporation in the Agenda of Alliance.
On the local issues of Gandhi Nagar constituency, Bhalla regretted the total neglect of the constituency with not even a single new work taken up for execution during the last one year. He further regretted the abandonment of all development works initiated by him during his tenure as Minister.
People voted for BJP because it had promised that Jammu region will not be neglected. They were told that for the first time the chief minister of the state will be from Jammu region, but it is very disappointing that BJP bowed down to the PDP to come to power. The party also took a U-turn on various other issues, which would cost them in future,” Bhalla maintained.
