UDHAMPUR: Alleging stalled development in Ramnagar and Udhampur constituencies and abandonment of even the on-going schemes, thousands of Panthers Party workers led by Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister and Balwant Singh Mankotia, State President held a massive demonstration outside the DC Office here on Tuesday.
The party workers assembled at Salathia Chowk took out a procession which culminated at the office of DC Udhampur where the protestors raised slogans against the Coalition Government and local administration for bringing the developmental works to a grinding halt in Ramnagar, Majalta Udhampur and Basantgarh Tehsils.
Dharna was lifted only after the assurance of DC Udhampur and SSP Udhampur for early action on the demands of the public. A memorandum was also submitted to DC Udhampur alleging large scale irregularities and bunglings in the functioning of various departments.
Addressing the gathering, Harsh called upon the DC Udhampur to take cognizance of the large scale irregularities and violations of norms in the preparation and renewal of BPL lists.
He sought inclusion of the bonafide and eligible persons under norms and deletion of the fraudulent entries therein. He pointed out several tax payers and big businessmen who had been included in BPL lists to the neglect of poor, indigent and deserving people. He further lambasted the pick and choose adopted by the CAPD officials in identification of beneficiaries under PMUY for provision of gas cylinders and stoves.
Condemning the district administration for its inordinate delay in releasing compensation to the farmers for lands acquired from them under PMGSY, Singh regretted that the highly apathetic officials had delayed the same by more than three years. He regretted inordinate delay in payment of liabilities and wages to workers under NREGA and others schemes by RDD which had brought untold miseries for the labour class.
Mankotia sought implementation of the High Court orders regarding enhancement of pension to a minimum of Rs. 1,000 per month for widows, old aged, handicapped besides other under privileged.

Vijay Singh, Karnail Singh, Makhan Lal Sharma, Akash Kharka, Uttam Singh, Bishan Dass, Des Raj, Tara Singh, Ram Paul, Bodh Raj, Balwant Raj, Sandoor Singh, Sunil Singh Sumbriya and Sukhjit.
