Department of Law, Sanskrit in semis of JU Cricket

JAMMU: Department of Law and Department of Sanskrit on Tuesday qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing inter-department sports meet of University of Jammu on the campus grounds, here.
In the quarterfinals, played today, Department of Law outplayed Department of ICCR and HRM by a huge margin of 102 runs. Batting first, Law set a big target of 167 runs for four wickets in 15 overs. Soumya Jain and Avyjyot Singh played fine innings of 69 (off 35 balls, 9×4, 1×6) and 60 (off 41 balls, 7×4, 1×6) runs respectively. For ICCCR and HRM, Samarth, Abhinay and Navneet shared apiece each. In reply, ICCR and HRM was bowled out for 64 runs in 11.1 overs. Poland was only batsman, who could touch the double figure mark scoring 16 runs. For Department of Law, Arun Singh claimed three wickets, followed by Ajesh Singh and Abhimandan, who shared two each. Meanwhile, in other match of the day, Department of Sanskrit trounced Law School by a margin of three runs.
Earlier, batting first, Sanskrit made 142 runs for six wickets in 15 overs. Arun (58), Rakesh (22), Satish (27) and Prince (24) were main scorers. Anil took two wickets while Sahil, Sohit and Shahrukh shared a wicket each.
Later, Law School exhausted their 15 overs quota for 139 runs losing nine wickets. Gourav (56 off 32 balls, 8×4), Sahil (30) and Shahrukh (20) were main scorers. For Department of Sanskrit, Surinder claimed three wickets and Harish bagged two.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Jagtar Singh, Vijay Dogra, Mukesh Sharma and Rahul Sharma were umpires while Satpal was scorer.
