Department of Health organises work shop on PC, PNDT Act in Ramban

RAMBAN: Keeping in view the concern over the decreasing sex ratio the Department of Health on Saturday organised a workshop on PC and PNDT Act which is in place for curbing the criminal activities in connection with the preconception and prenatal determination of sex of unborn babies. A good number of owners of the USG clinics in addition to the health officers and ASHA workers of the district took part in the work shop.
District Development Commissioner Ramban who is also the Chairman District Health Society Ramban Farooq Shah Bukhari presided over the function.
In his address Bukhari reiterated upon the participants to promote a sense of respect about the female sex of the society. He embarked upon the health officers and PO ICDS Ramban that since a majority of the female folk of the society is either working with these department or are linked in one or other way with them, so they can pro-actively take part in sensitising the people about the prevention of the pre-conceptual and prenatal sex determination and the consequent death of girl child of the society.
Regarding the implementation of PC and PNDT Act in the district, Shah explained to the owners of USG strictly that they shall run their clinics strictly in accordance with the rules and regulations of the PC and PNDT Act.
