BUDGAM: To ensure free, fair and transparent elections in five Assembly segments of district Budgam, the District Election Officer, Budgam on Monday convened a meeting of representatives of political parties which was also attended by Returning Officers (ROs), Assistant Returning Officers and Nodal Officers.
The meeting reviewed of election preparedness and the arrangements put in place.
Briefing the meeting, the District Election Officer impressed upon the parties to ensure strict adherence of Model Code of Conduct and the guidelines issued by Election Commission of India.
He said that political parties must refrain from defacement of public properties and use of polythene buntings and decorations. Besides, they must desist from use of any individual building, place without the consent of concerned owner.
The District Election Officer also stressed the need for fool proof maintenance of election expenditure about various details of account keeping including expenditure being incurred by the contesting candidates during election campaign. Various other financial information gathering mechanism was also discussed during the meeting.
The District Election Officer directed Additional Deputy Commissioner Budgam to monitor all the election related activities on daily basis and gather information about pace and progress of preparedness from all Nodal Officers from their areas of operations.
