GANDERBAL: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Sarmad Hafeez who is also the District Election Officer Ganderbal has said Elections for the J and K Legislative Assembly have been announced by the Election Commission of India and the schedule of elections for district Ganderbal consisting of two constituencies- Kangan and Ganderbal has been issued.
Addressing a press conference here, the District Election Officer briefing that according to the schedule the notification for filling the nominations of election would be issued on 28th October, last date of filling of nomination is 5th November, scrutiny of nominations will take place on 7th November, the last date of withdrawal of candidature is 10th November, and the day of Polling of Kangan and Ganderbal constituencies is 25th November.
Sarmad Hafeez informed that 208 polling stations in district Ganderbal. He further said that enrolment of eligible voter is still going on and total Electorate of District Ganderbal till this day is 1,60,329. Number of Migrant voters in District Ganderbal is 1,696 and that of service voters is 98, he informed.
He also briefed that elaborate plan with respect to manpower management, transport management, security management, Implementation of Model Code of Conduct , Expenditure monitoring and Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) has been charted out and put in place for systematic hassle free, smooth and transparent conduct of Legislative Assembly Elections. He further said Basic Minimum Facilities (BMF) like drinking water, toilet facility, Electricity, Ramp etc have been made available at all polling stations in the District.
Meanwhile the District Election Officer held a meeting with the representatives of all Political Parties and informed them about the important aspects of election viz. Expenditure monitoring, media monitoring and Model Code of Conduct. The aim was to inform the party representatives about the important aspects related to Election and to seek their support for an effective electoral process, at district level.
Sarmad Hafez directed the officers related to the election process to strictly adhere to the directions issued by the Election Commission of India, adding that the officers will implement the instructions in letter and spirit. Violation of any such directions will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the violators, he said.
