DEO Anantnag stresses for strict adherence to MCC

ANANTNAG: The First Level Checking (FLC) of electronic voting machines was started at Anantnag on Friday which is scheduled to go for polls on 20th December, 2014. The notification for the six Assembly Constituencies of the district will be issued on 19th November 2014.
The engineers from Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited today started the first level checking of EVMs to be utilised during the forthcoming Assembly polls in the district in presence of District Election Officer Tasaduq Geelani.
Returning officers of all the six Assembly Constituencies, Nodal officers, representatives of all the political parties and other concerned officers were present during the process.
District Election Officer revealed that the FLC will continue for two to three days until it is completed on all the machines.
District Election Officer instructed all the political parties to strictly adhere to the model code of conduct so that the elections are held in a free, fair and transparent manner. He further revealed that election complaint/ media cell has been established at District Headquarters and any person/political representative can contact the same regarding any election query.
District Election Officer Anantnag further said that FLC will be conducted on all 1,344 ballot units and 975 Control Units to be used at 613 polling stations for six Assembly Elections.
District Election Officer, Anantnag said that physical verification of all polling 631 polling booths has been completed and necessary shifting with other arrangements process is under way which will be completed before the notification of the elections on 19th November, 2014.
