Dense fog in Jammu hits air, rail traffic
STATE TIMES NEWS
Jammu: Air and rail traffic to the city was affected by dense fog with more than 12 flights being delayed this morning due to poor visibility.
The early morning fog in Jammu resulted in the delay of more than 12 flights while all trains to the city were also running late.
“Around 12 flights coming to Jammu were delayed by an hour because of poor visibility due to the dense fog.
“Flight operations returned to normal later on in the day as the visibility improved,” said an official at Jammu airport.
He said arrangements are in place at the airport for any passengers who may have to spend extra hours due to delay in their flights.
“We have made sure that the passengers don’t face any problems,” he said.
Meanwhile, several trains coming to Jammu, too, were running late owing to the dense fog.
“Around 10 trains were cancelled in the past few days due to the fog in the region. Today, too, almost all the trains coming to Jammu have been delayed by several hours due to the fog in the region,” an official at the Jammu railway station said.
Air and rail services have been hampered in the fog in the past few days with officials at the state meteorological department saying that such conditions will continue for some days to come.
