Demonstration in Talab Tillo demanding justice in Dr. Sumedha murder case

JAMMU: People on Friday held a protest at Talab Tillo demanding death sentence to the murderer Johar Mahmood Ganai.
A massive protest was held at Talab Tillo, Gol Puli in which people from various religious bodies , Civil society , parents of Dr. Sumedha Sharma, relatives and locals participated and put forward their demand to hang the culprit.
While the protesters were raising loud slogans demanding early justice for the victim of Love Jihad, Dr. Sumedha were also being raised for Justice.
While addressing the protestors, Ram Pal Sharma said that there is anger in the society after the revelations in the 1249-page charge sheet.
The main reason for this anger was the disclosure in the charge sheet that murder accused Johar Mahmood Ganai, apart from Dr. Sumedha, was also making another Hindu girl a victim of love jihad. When Dr. Sumedha revealed this, Johar murdered her. In the chargesheet police reveals that Dr. Sumedhas murder was gruesome and pre planed.
Protesters including parents of the deceased Dr. Sumedha said her family will not get justice unless the murder accused is given death sentence.
They said that for justice, the concerned administration should arrange for a special government lawyer for the aggrieved party along with hearing of the case in a fast track court. Otherwise the family will not get justice . The protesters also demanded the Lieutenant Governor to enact a stringent law to curb the increasing cases of Love Jihad.
It is noteworthy that on March 7 this year, on the day of Holi, Dr. Sumedha was murdered by Johar Mahmood Ganai in his house in Pamposh Colony under Janipur police station. The accused murderer had brutally killed Dr. Sumedha by stabbing her several times with a 10-inch big meat cutting knife. After this, various social and religious organizations started protests and the police SIT was formed .
Later, SIT was also re – organized under the pressure of these organizations. After completion of investigation in the case, on October 31, the police filed a charge sheet in the concerned court. The protesters mainly included Sangeeta Dogra, Anita, Vikas, councilor Surendra Sharma, Manoj and Manmohan etc.
