Demise of Mangat Ram Sharma widely mourned

JAMMU: Governor N.N Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh have expressed grief over the demise of Mangat Ram Sharma, former Deputy Chief Minister, whom he had known for many years.
In a condolence message, the Governor has prayed for the peace to the departed soul and conveyed sympathies to the bereaved family.
The Chief Minister while paying tributes to the veteran leader hailed his contribution in different capacities to the people of the State during his public life. She said Pandit Mangat Ram had great concern for the poor and downtrodden people irrespective of caste, creed, colour, religion or region.
Expressing grief over the demise of senior leader, Deputy Chief Minister said that his death has created a vacuum in the political arena of the state.
Meanwhile, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali also condoled the demise of Mangat Ram.
National Conference President, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President, Omar Abdullah expressed deep grief over the passing away of former Deputy Chief Ministe0.
Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana also condoled the demise of Sharma and described him as identity of Jammu.
Former Minister and Senior State Vice President, Surjeet Singh Slathia besides State Vice Presidents Rattan Lal Gupta and Th Kashmira Singh and State Secretary Th Rachpal Singh also expressed grief over the demise of Pt Mangat Ram Sharma.
A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the late leader.
Those present on the occasion included former legislators Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Bimla Luthra and Deepinder Kour besides Provincial President Women Wing Satwant Kour Dogra, Provincial Vice Presidents Choudhry Haroon, Jugal Mahajan, Anil Dhar, Co-Chairmen SC/OBC Cell Vijay Lochan and Abdul Gani Teli and District President Jammu Urban Dharamveer Singh Jamwal.
Meanwhile, National Conference MLC Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri has also expressed grief and shock over the demise of Pt Mangat Ram Sharma.
President JKPCC Ghulam Ahmed Mir described Pandit Mangat Ram as a great leader who was liked by one and all because of his humbleness and qualities of leadership.
Former Chairman Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra, former MPs Dharam Pal Sharma, Madan Lal Sharma and Tara Chand, former Dy Chief Minister while paying tributes to Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma remembered their association with him and his contributions with the people at the grass root levels especially poor and the downtrodden.
Prominent among those who condoled the death of Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma and remembered his services to the people and the party included Sham Lal Sharma; Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram, G.M. Saroori, G.N. Monga, Kanta Bhan; Haji Rashid, Ravinder Sharma, K.K Amla, Th. Balwan Singh, Yogesh Sawhney, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Th. Manmohan Singh, S.S Channi, Namrta Sharma, Faqir Nath, Babu Singh, Indu Pawar, Anil Chopra, Shiv Dev Singh, Arvinder Singh Micky, Th. Balbir Singh, Krishan Bhagat, Darshan Raina, Ashok Gupta, Shashi Sharma, Neeraj Gupta, Thomas Khokhar, Pawan Raina, Sanjeev Sharma, Shamsher Singh, Manjeet Singh Jatt, Surinder Gupta, Lalita Sharma, Krishan Lal Gupta, Hira Lal Pandita, Khushal Bali and Vijay Manhas.
In a condolence message, Pranav Shagotra, President JKPYC, expressed grief over the demise of Mangat Ram Sharma and described him as a great leader who was liked by one and all because of his humility and qualities of leadership.
A condolence meeting was held by J&K Pradesh Youth Congress here at the Congress headquarters.
Satish Sharma, General Secretary JKPYC, remembered the hard work done by Mangat Ram Sharma.
Senior Congress leader and former Minister of State for Revenue Aijaz Ahmad Khan expressed deep condolences over the demise of Mangat Ram Sharma. He prayed to Almighty for granting eternal peace to the departed soul and courage of the bereaved family.
Chief Patron of J&K National Panthers Party, Prof Bhim Singh expressed shock on the sad demise of Mangat Ram Sharma and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the family of Sharma.
Former Union Minister, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz has also condoled the demise of former Deputy Minister, Managat Ram Sharma.
“Mangat Ram made very good contribution for the development of the State, especially, he was always eager to raise the issues related to Jammu province and tried to solve them. His passing away is a great loss to the political class in the J and K State. I offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” Soz said.
Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu held a condolence meeting to console the sad demise of Mangat Ram Sharma. President Anjuman Syed lauded the efforts made by Mangat Ram during his tenure.
Maulana Ali Badshah Naqvi Imam Jumma prayed for the family that Allah may give them strength to bare the irreparable loss. Others who were present in the meeting include Prof Sujat Khan, Syed Amjad Shah, Syed Kazmi Hussain Anjum, Syed Afaq Kazmi, Sohail Mir and Ajaz Mir.
Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil expressed grief over the demise of Mangat Ram Sharma. Terming his demise as a big loss to the State, Vakil said his contributions for the State and nation can never be relegated and are unforgetable.
