Delhi wrestler Sumit lifts Aghar Jitto Kesari Dangal title

KATRA: Wrestler Sumit Gujjar of Guru Hanuman Akhara, Delhi on Tuesday lifted ” 58th Aghar Jitoo Kesari Dangal title 2023″ by defeating wrestler Nadeem of Doda in the first main malli bout that lasted for 12 minutes.
Aghar Jitoo Kesari Dangal is organised at village Aghar Jitto in Tehsil Katra District Reasi on the last day of the three day historic Mela held every year in the memory of the great revolutionary Farmer Baba Jitto and Bua Kouri.
ADC Reasi, Abdul Sattar was the chief guest, who gave away cash prizes to the wrestlers. Shiv Kumar Sharma, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and Senior Vice President Indian Style Wrestling Association of India presided over the function. Naib Tehsildar Katra Ashok Kumar and Jugal Kishore Sharma (Bunty) prominent social activist and leading businessman of Delhi were the guests of honour. Dangal was organized by Aghar Jitoo Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
The bouts were officiated by Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakari),Om Parkash Verma, Tulinder Kumar, Raj Singh,Pawan Kumar and Nazir Ahmid.
Wrestler Sumit, the winner of Ist malli bout was awarded with cash prize of Rs.15,000 along with traditional Gurj ( Gadda) and Patta by chief guest Abdul Sattar, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Jugal Kishore Sharma ( Bunty) ,while runner-up wrestler Nadeem got cash prize of Rs.10,000.
In all, 42 bouts were played the said dangaand total Rs.2,00,000 was distributed as cash prizes among the wrestlers.
Jugal Kishore Sharma (Bunty) contributed Rs.30,000 as financial assistance to the organizers i.e prize money for the first malli bout. Retd. Social welfare officer Mohan Lal Kholi, contributed Rs.20,000 i.e prize money for the second main malli and Rs.7,000 was contributed by Tripura Bala Sundrani Maha Durga Vaishno Mandir Aghar Jitoo.
2nd main malli bout was won by wrestler Babba of Domana Akhara of Kot Bhawal Jammu who defeated wrestler Vishal of Delhi. Winner Babba got Rs.10,000, while runner- up wrestler Vikas got Rs.10,000. Another second malli bout was won by wrestler Surjit Singh of J&K Police of Reasi by defeating wrestler Ankush of Rohtak .Winner wrestler Surjit Dingh got Rs.10,000 while runner-up Ankush got Rs.8,000.
3rd malli bout was won by wrestler Maam Hussain of Domel, who defeated wrestler Ali of Patti ( Punjab). The winner wrestler Maam Hussain got Rs.8,000 while runner-up wrestler Ali got Rs.5,000.
Members of the Aghar Jitto Dangal Committee who helped in the conduct of dangal included Baba Mohan Lal ( Chairman), Ex.Sarpanch Krishan Singh ( Pappu), Suneel Kholi ( President), former ZEO ,President Awardee Gopal Krishan Komal, Jugal Kishore Sharma ( Bunty),Romesh Kumar Sanmotra ( BJP Mandal President ), Gopal Krishan, Mohinder Kumar, Ram Paul Verma, Sanjay Kumar, Sonu Rana and Numberdar Mangat Ram.
Proceedings of the dangal were conducted by Gopal Krishan Komal and Anil Kumar of Reasi.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, President Senior citizens welfare Forum Katra ( Regd.) honoured prominent social activist Badri Nath, age 83 years of village Aghar Jitto by presenting him Mata Ki Chunari in presence of senior citizens Gopal Krishan, Retd ZEO Channay Ram ,Chuni Lal and others.
Among others, Mohan of Delhi beat Shamsher of Talwar, Gurdev Singh of J&K Police of Devigarh beat Bagga of Punjab and Balwan Singh of Sheep breeding department of Reasi beat Vishal of U.P.
Shiv Kumar Sharma appealed all the youths to adopt sports as part of life.
