Delayed revaluation results force law students to appear in supplementary exams for papers they passed
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Even as the nation is grappling with one after another controversy revolving around National Eligibility Test (NET) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the University of Jammu does not seem to have learnt any lesson.
The University on Friday declared the re-evaluation result notification of the answer scripts of various papers and courses of B.A LL.B (5yrs) 9th Semester Examination, held in February/March 2024-the day it was holding the supplementary (mercy) examinations, in accordance with the date issued on June 12, 2024.
At least two of the 166 students in the result list of re-evaluation notification have been shown as having passed ‘subject course No 901, notwithstanding the fact that they were supposed to appear in the supplementary examination of 9th semester today. Similar might be the case with other students supposed to appear in other papers or courses they had sought revaluation. The supplementary examination has been scheduled for June 21, 25 and 28 besides July 4 and 8, 2024.
Who will compensate for the hard toil put in by the revaluation seekers? Had the revaluation notification been issued well in time, such students would not have undergone extensive studies for the papers they had already cleared. By putting the students and their parents to agonized situations, the University of Jammu has shown a high degree of insensitivity, sources said.
The sources added that 166 students out of nearly 300 students, studying in the Law College of Jammu University, KC Law College and Dogra College of Law had sought revaluation of their papers. Of these, there has been no change in the evaluation of marks in respect of about 75 students, they added.
Some of the students have alleged the University of playing mind-games with the students because of the incompetence of the staff engaged with examinations. “It would not have been too much for the concerned staff to prepare and issue the result notification of re-evaluated papers before the issue of the date sheet on June 12, 2024”, some of the aggrieved students said while questioning the motivation behind deliberate delay.
