“India fails to get into nuclear club”, the rejection of India’s bid for membership is not a surprise as India’s every move was thwarted by the China-Pakistan combine. India’s justified claim to the UNSC seat is always vetoed by China, which, ironically, enjoys veto due to Nehru’s gesture of goodwill to pass on to China the seat offered to India. This veto exercised by just one country to deny the right of the other country is not justified. Seeing the misuse of veto power by China against India, it is time that the governing rules are amended. The veto right should be made effective only if a majority of the veto members give their consent. This is the only way to control China’s vindictive streak. Let the world body, UN, introspect and take a bold step to de-veto the veto.
