DDC reviews progress of infrastructure projects
POONCH: District Development Commissioner, Poonch, M.H Malik convened a meeting to review the progress of infrastructural projects under various schemes in the Education Department.
Assistant District Development Commissioner, Arvind Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Development, Shokat Mehmood Malik, Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Iqbal Zargar, Chief Education Officer, Abdul Hamid Fani, Executive Engineer PWD, Kabir Hussain Shah, District Statistical and Evaluation Officer, Farooq Choudhary, AD Planning, Maqsood Choudhary, Zonal Education Officers, AEEs and JEs of the PWD attended the meeting.
DDC reviewed the progress of projects under RMSA, SSA, EGS, KGBV and several other projects under district and state plan.
Reviewing the phase-wise upgradation under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), the DDC asked the CEO and XEN PWD to work in close coordination to get all the projects completed in a fixed time frame and directed the XEN PWD to immediately handover all the completed projects to the education department for use and fixed specific dates for the completion of the projects which are in progress.
He instructed the XEn PWD to start the process of tendering in cases where projects have not been taken up or abandoned by the concerned contractors. XEN PWD was also directed to speed up the construction of left over school buildings under RMSA, SSA, KGBV and other buildings under state and district plan so that school going children do not face any kind of difficulty which is the main motive behind these schemes.
He asked the CEO to proactively resolve all the disputes that have led to many projects being held up and actively pursue all the relevant cases in the courts to avert consequent cost escalation. Reviewing the functioning of mid-day meal in the district, he directed CEO and all the ZEOs to constantly supervise the scheme with special focus on the quality of food served to the children. Viewing the lack of progress in the completion of girls toilets very seriously, the DDC warned the concerned ZEOs of stern actions if the toilets are not completed before 31st of October.
