BUDGAM: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad on Wednesday distributed a total of Rs 66,000 to 54 girl students of district Budgam under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao who have excelled in various sports activities.
In a function organised by District Youth Services and Sports Budgam, two girl students who had won a gold medal in national level competition (sports) were also rewarded with Rs 10,000 cash each. Six girl students who had won silver medals were rewarded with Rs 7,000 each and 18 girl students who had won bronze medals were rewarded with Rs 5,000 each and those who had participated in the national level competition were rewarded with Rs 1,750 each.
The DDC lauded the efforts of the girl students who have brought laurels to the district and urged them to continue with the hard work which shall go a long way in their empowerment also.
He also urged the parents to encourage their girl children to pursue their natural talent and interests. He assured the young girl athlete’s necessary support from the side of the government will be provided to them.
