DDC discusses press club development plan

RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today discussed the developmental plan of Press Club Rajouri with Press Club members and concerned district officers. Meeting was convened in the official chamber of DDC Rajouri in which press club Rajouri members and officers including Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Qayoom Mir, Chief Planning Officer, Abdul Hamid and District Information Officer, Mohammad Shafait were present. In this meeting, threadbare discussion was held on present state of functioning of Press Club Rajouri with DDC Rajouri emphasised to make it a socially vibrant and institute of excellence by organising seminars, conferences, debates, discussions and discourses, workshops on topics of development and community participation in development of the district.
During this meeting, a schedule for plantation was decided for press club while DDC also informed that construction work of community facilitation Center will be started within few days so that the same can be used in different programmes to be organized in Press Club. Apart from it, he also informed that regular funding to the tune of Rs 10 Lakh shall be provided every financial year for maintenance of press club. The meeting also took decision for provision of Water and electricity supply, lighting arrangements, additional furniture, installation of main gate at entrance and finalisation process for registration of PC as Society. DDC also sanctioned high quality Public Address System for meeting hall of Press Club to be procured by Information Department.
It was also decided that each member of club shall provide write up/ story within a week time, which in turn shall be compiled and published by District Information Officer as Press Club Magzine.
The DDC also reviewed the progress under Media Fellowship in Development Administration and enjoined upon the scribes to complete it within stipulated time.
The DDC also shared the plan of District Administration to increase the number of media fellowship from existing 15 to 30, to be notified in the month of March with fellowship award doubled and sufficient funds for field visits.
