DDC asks banks to bring needy, weaker sections under banking ambit

KISHTWAR: A meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC), District Consultative Committee (DCC) was convened in district Kishtwar, under the chairmanship of Mohd. Javed Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar on Wednesday to review the performance of banks with regard to achievement under Annual Credit Plan for the quarter ending September 2014 in respect of Kishtwar District.
LDM Kishtwar, Satish Gupta appraised that CD Ratio of 23.80 per cent was achieved during this quarter. He further said that new ATM machines with CCTVs are being installed in the town.
Dinesh Gupta, AGM RBI advised all the banks to adopt multi pronged holistic approach to make their outreach possible in the far flung villages which are mostly unbanked. They endeavor to deepen the penetration of Financial Inclusion and expand the converge of financial services of all the sections of society particularly to those at the bottom most of the economic pyramid. He further said that the Financial Inclusion is a process of ensuring access to financial services and timely and adequate credit where needed by vulnerable groups such as weaker sections, rural women and low income groups at an affordable cost.
The meeting had a thread bare review of all Govt` sponsored schemes with the focus on , JKSES ,KCC, handicraft, handloom etc. The newly launched Jan Dhan Yojna was also discussed and it was informed that a total nomber of 16,366 accounts were opened under this scheme during this quarter.
On the occasion the DDC called upon all line departments and banks to galvanise their efforts and to give boost to the rural credit dispensation. He asked the banks to extend soft loans to weaker sections and needy people, particularly in rural areas. Khan said housing, agriculture, education and micro and small scale enterprises should be given priority. He further advised the sponsoring agencies to conduct the awareness camps in the villages especially in far flung and remote areas to expand their orbit so that more and more people are educated, motivated and facilitated to initiate self employment enterprises in their own areas to ensure overall development of the society. He also directed to constitute a joint task force of district officers and bankers to chalk out a detailed action plan for ensuring comprehensive financial inclusion in the district.
The meeting was attended by ADDC A.S Chib, ACR Sudershan Salaria, AGM, RBI, Dinesh Gupta and other senior officers of Banks and Govt departments.
