DDB meet held in Ramban;Legislators’ role vital for implementation of Govt’s development initiatives: Kohli

RAMBAN: Stressing on the role of legislators as of paramount importance in formulation and implementation of developmental programmes, Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Ghani Kohli on Sunday exhorted upon the officers to optimally utilise their experience and expertise to ensure productive use of government resources for the larger public welfare.
The Minister said this, while chairing District Development Board (DDB) review meeting of district Ramban on Sunday.
“The legislators, who represent the people, are the ones who are well abreast with the developmental needs of every part of their constituency so their involvement can do wonders in transforming socio-economic profile of their areas in particular and the state as a whole,” the Minister maintained.
MLAs Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Vikar Rasool Wani and Neelam Langeh, MLC Sham Lal Bhagat, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Mohammad Aijaz, ADDC Ravinder Sadhu, HoDs of various departments, Chief Engineers and other district officers attended the meeting.
In the meeting, the Minister directed the officers to be prompt and responsive towards people’s needs and step up their efforts in effective implementation of development programmes.
It was further informed in the meeting that the lands for establishing two ST hostels in the district under TSP, Govt Degree College, Stadium and KV at Gool have been identified. The Minister stressed the need for encouraging self employment ventures like establishing fish ponds, poultry farms and dairy farms in view of their potential and scope in the district.
It was disclosed that under New District Infrastructure (NDI) five major buildings have been completed till date and work on Circuit House, Block-II is under progress. Likewise, works of Extension of OPD block, Mortuary and Canteen of District Hospital, 50 bedded hospital at Banihal, Degree College Banihal, Construction of DIET Banihal, Polytechnic at Ramban, Filtration plant are going on.
The meeting was informed that Rs. 12.22 crore have been utilised under MGNREGA, Rs. 0.29 crore under minor irrigation, Rs. 5.14 crore under R&B, Rs. 1.25 crore under PHE, Rs. 1.50 Crore under health, Rs.1.80crore under RMSA, Rs.2.10 crore under MDM and various other sectors including social welfare, ICDS, YSS, Urban development, SSA etc.
Besides, 306 works of RDD have been completed, 427 buildings and 492 additional classrooms have been constructed under SSA, 11 schools upgraded under RMSA, 5 New Type Primary Health Centres raised, 23 RKS, 388 ASHAs trained, 4 water supply schemes executed, 10 habitations and 14 schools covered under NRDWP, 145 transformers repaired, 901 IHHL raised, 45 harvesting tanks constructed, 20 schemes executed under PMGSY covering 290 km road length.
