DC Poonch reviews performance of Education Deptt

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Tariq Ahmed Zargar on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review the performance of education department.
Present in the meeting were ADDC Abdul Hamid, ACD, CEO, CPO, ZEOs, executive engineer of PWD, PHE and other functionaries of different engineering wings.
The meeting discussed the status of fund utilization viz-viz physical achievements during the current financial year(2017-18) under different schemes including elementary education, secondary education, mid day meal scheme, Gujjar & Backwral scholarship, Pahari scholarship, achievements under BADP, SSA,RAMSA till ending July.
It was informed in the meeting that under elementary education against the approved outlay of Rs 2.37crore Rs 80.36 lakh have been expended, while under secondary education against outlay of Rs 53.66 lakh, Rs 21.56 were spent under different components till ending July.
The DC stressed upon the department and executing agencies to pace up the construction work of school buildings to achieve the targets set for different schemes for the current financial year.
He directed the executive engineer PWD to complete the work of Surankote Degree College in all respects by the end of October this year.
The DC also called for strict measures at all levels to check absenteeism in educational institutions and taking required steps to improve academic activities in all schools of the district.
He asked CEO and ZEOs to ensure timely disbursement of scholarship among different category of students as per the procedure.
