DC launches Protsahan initiative to encourage girl child education

KATHUA: Continuing with its series of initiative to improve the female literacy district administration on Tuesday launched Protsahan initiative, an idea conceived to harness the potential of multi-stakeholder partnerships to provide free education among poor girls in private schools.
While chairing the maiden meeting of the government recognised private schools in the district, District Development Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar, said that “Free education will be provided to girls of district, whose family income is below poverty line in the government recognised private institutes of the district, which will over a period of time of proper implementation will bring a long -term positive impact on the development of human resources in Kathua vis-a-viz helps in socio-economic uplift of the downtrodden economy”.
DDC appealed the school principals to adopt at least two girl students, one under elementary and one under secondary / senior secondary levels under the Protsahan initiative to sponsor their fees , books and school uniforms expenses.
Protsahan is the joint initiative of district administration and private schools which will help in improving girls education in the district with its initial target of benefitting 220 poor girls every year.
He directed the Chief Education Officer Kathua to frame a committee comprising members from government and private schools to scrutinise the eligible cases for the Protsahan initiative.
Among others AC(UT) Rahul Yadav , CEO Kathua Balbir Singh , DEPO Kathua Aruna Sharma , Distt. Informatics Officer Kathua Sideshwar Bhagat, District Information Officer Kathua Angrej Singh, Principals of recognised private High/Hr. Sec. Schools of district Kathua were present in the meeting.
