KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has been selected for Governance Award 2014 for excellent performance in district administration with special focus on strengthening Panchayats, working for electoral inclusion of excluded groups, electoral awareness and record participation in Lok Sabha Elections, working for improvements in education sector, strengthening rural sports, decentralised public grievance system and construction of 70 foot bridges for remote schools during his tenure as District Development Commissioner Reasi in 2013-14.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 13th December 2014. Dr Iqbal has been awarded Silver Medal, Citation and Cash Award of Rs 50,000. The jury comprising of former Cabinet Secretary Prabdhat Kumar, Power Secretary Anil Razdan, Former Haryana CS Vishnu Bhagwan, and M.B Kaushal IPS selected the officer for second prize for Governance Award.
