DC Jammu inaugurates 3-day training programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

JAMMU: As part of the Annual Youth Club Revitalisation programme, a three-day training programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Avny Lavasa, at Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk on Monday. The programme has been organised in collaboration with Mission Youth and the District Social Welfare Office Jammu.
The Deputy Commissioner, who was also the chief guest on the occasion, said that drug abuse is a serious problem that affects individuals, families and communities. She stated that it is essential to tackle the issue from multiple perspectives, including deterrence, treatment and enforcement. The DC reiterated that the district administration is committed to creating a drug-free environment in the district and will continue to take all necessary steps to achieve this goal.
She apprised that deterrence initiatives have been initiated, including educational campaigns at schools and colleges to sensitise students and the common masses about the ill effects of drugs, as well as encouraging healthy activities and hobbies to discourage drug abuse. Anti-drug seminars, rallies and other programmes on the harmful effects of drug abuse in educational institutions of the District have also been conducted, she added.
Resource persons from school education, health and J&K police educated the youth regarding the ill effects of drug abuse and how to get rid of this social menace.
DySP Sultan Mahmood from Police Department, Dr Akhil Menia from Department of Psychiatry (GMC), Shafali Gupta from Education Department and Pallavi from NGO Mashwara (JKSPYM) were the resource persons on the occasion.
